Creative video and marketing based out of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan.
A collection of things that I’ve created through the mediums of video and photography.
TEDxGrandRapids
For the announcement of the 2012 TEDxGrandRapids conference, we wanted to have an energetic video to get people excited about the upcoming event. This video serves as a highlight of what was accomplished during the inaugural event the previous year, as well as a launching point for the 2012 conference.

Vimeo + ArtPrize
For ArtPrize 2011, Vimeo was coming in from New York to put together a documentary on the event. The cool part, is that most of the footage shown in the video was captured by people on the street. Vimeo put an open call to anyone with a video camera at ArtPrize, to interview and capture as much footage as possible and then to submit it into Vimeo. Their editors then pieced together a narrative based upon the crowdsourced video footage from Vimeo users - thus creating “The Art of Inspiration.” I focused my efforts on interviewing Mary Geeting of Coit Creative Arts Academy and gathering specific shots of venues and artwork around the city. A good amount of my footage was featured in the documentary and am very honored to be included in such a cool project.

UICA
The Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts is a fantastic local organization that hosts a gallery as well as community art programs and classes. In 2011 they moved into a beautiful newly constructed building in the heart of Grand Rapids. For their big launch party, they hosted an event called “The Odd Ball” and wanted some video coverage of the grand opening. I experimented with using the “freelensing” method for most of the shots, which had great artistic results.

The RED Project
The Grand Rapids RED Project put on a fundraising event called RED ALERT. Featuring models, hair stylists, and makeup artists from around town - RED ALERT was a fashion show held at a local venue called The Pyramid Scheme. All of the proceeds from the event went back to The Grand Rapids RED Project to help fund programs for AIDS and HIV prevention. I was asked to cover the event through video.

SPACE
SPACE is an event series that I created in 2011. The concept is that we throw a one-night live art and music event held in a vacant space in Grand Rapids. By mixing artists creating their artwork live on the spot and musicians performing live music in the same space, we were able to create a fun and unique environment - typically in spaces that people had never stepped foot in before. Aside from putting together the organization, this is a brief highlight video of our first event that we held.

Design/Educate/Connect
The D/E/C Project is a speaker series and networking event that highlights various designers in West Michigan. Put together by some friends of mine, we wanted to throw a cool event that gives people an insight into the minds of some great designers from all different backgrounds. This is a highlight video from the second event in 2011.

TEDxGrandRapids
I produced over 25 videos leading up to the 2011 TEDxGrandRapids conference. Mostly featured interviews with local “innovators” - as well as sponsors of the event. The majority of the videos were released leading up to the event as promos, but some were played on-screen live during the show. This piece specifically was used at the opening of the event and featured the “Innovate X” theme of the conference.

ArtPrize
This was an individual project I took to experiment with tilt-shift video. ArtPrize has been a huge success and I thought would be a great visual to shoot this video for. This is a look into ArtPrize during its second year, in the fall of 2010. All of the tilt-shift effects were done in post with Motion.
